If emergency towing is required, it is recommended that an authorized Kia Motors dealer or a commercial towing service perform it. To avoid damaging the vehicle, follow the proper lifting and towing procedures. The use of wheel dollies or flatbed trucks is recommended.

For information on trailer towing guidelines, see "Towing a trailer" in Section 5.

Towing the vehicle with the rear wheels on the ground (without dollies) and the front wheels off the ground is permitted.

If any of the drive wheels or suspension components are damaged, or if the vehicle is towed with the front wheels on the ground, place a towing dolly under the front wheels.

If the vehicle is towed by a commercial tow truck and wheel dollies are not used, the front of the vehicle must always be lifted, not the rear.

CAUTION
  • Do not tow the vehicle backward (rear first) with the front wheels on the ground, as this may damage it.
  • Do not tow the vehicle using a tow strap-type rig.

    Use a wheel dolly or a flatbed truck.

When the vehicle is emergency towed without using wheel dollies, you must:

  1. Set the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  2. Shift the gear lever to N (Neutral).
  3. Release the parking brake.
