Low tire pressure warning device / TPMS indicator: Every tire, including the spare tire (if equipped), should be checked once a month when cold and inflated to the tire pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer, shown on the vehicle tire and loading information label or the tire pressure label on the tire.

(If your vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle tire and loading information label or the tire pressure label, you must determine the correct inflation pressure for those tires yourself.) Your vehicle has been equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) as an additional safety feature, which activates the low tire pressure warning device when one or more tires are significantly under-inflated.

When the low tire pressure warning indicators also illuminate, stop the vehicle as soon as possible, check the tires and inflate them to the correct pressure. Driving with a tire that is significantly under-inflated will cause the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Low tire pressure also reduces fuel economy and tread life, and may affect vehicle handling and stopping ability.

Please note that TPMS does not replace proper tire maintenance, and it is the driver's responsibility to maintain correct tire pressure, even if under-inflation has not reached the level to trigger the TPMS low tire pressure warning light.

Your vehicle has been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate when the system is not operating properly. The TPMS malfunction indicator is combined with the low tire pressure warning indicator. When the system detects a malfunction, the indicator will flash for about one minute and then remain steadily on.

This sequence will repeat each time the vehicle is started until the malfunction is corrected.

When the malfunction indicator is illuminated, the system may not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended.

TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons, including the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the vehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioning properly. Always check the TPMS malfunction indicator after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle, to ensure that the replacement or alternate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to continue to function properly.

NOTICE If the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) low tire pressure warning indicator does not illuminate for 3 seconds after switching the ignition to the ON position or starting the engine, or if it remains on after flashing for about 3 seconds, have the vehicle inspected at the nearest authorized Kia dealer.
