Tire Rotation

~1min read

WARNING

Rotate tires regularly: Uneven tire wear is dangerous. To ensure even tread wear, rotate the tires every 10,000 km, or more often if tread wear is uneven.

Wheels must be properly balanced when rotated.

CAUTION

(Without a spare tire) Since your vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire, you cannot safely rotate the tires using the jack supplied with your vehicle. To rotate the tires, contact a specialist service center. We recommend an authorized Mazda dealer.

The temporary spare tire (compact spare) is not included when rotating tires.

Also check the tires for uneven wear and damage. Uneven wear is caused by one or more of the following:

  • Incorrect tire pressure
  • Incorrect wheel alignment
  • Unbalanced wheels
  • Sudden braking

After rotating, inflate all tires to the specified pressure (see page 9-10) and check that the wheel nuts are tightened correctly.

(With tire pressure monitoring system)

After adjusting the tire pressure, the tire pressure monitoring system must be activated for it to operate correctly.

See "Tire Pressure Monitoring System Activation" on page 4-147.

CAUTION

Directional, radial, asymmetric or studded tires should be rotated from front to rear, not side to side. Tire life will be reduced if they are swapped side to side.
