WARNING
- Wet ice (0°C (32°F) and freezing rain), very cold snow or ice can make the road slippery and driving difficult. Under these conditions, the tire grip of the vehicle is considerably reduced. Avoid driving on icy roads until sand or road salt has been spread.
- Whatever the conditions, drive carefully. Accelerate and decelerate smoothly. Sudden acceleration and braking will only further reduce the grip of the driving wheels.
- Under these conditions, allow a longer stopping distance. Begin braking earlier than on a dry road.
- On slippery roads, keep a greater distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead.
- Be alert when driving on a road covered with patches of ice. Even roads that appear clear may have patches of ice in shaded areas. If this is the case, brake before driving over the patch. Do not brake on ice and avoid sudden steering movements.
- Do not use the cruise control when driving on a slippery road.
- Snow can trap harmful exhaust gases under your vehicle.
Clear accumulated snow from around the exhaust pipe and around the vehicle.
