The NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System (NVIS) prevents the engine from starting without a registered key.

If you are using a registered NVIS key and the engine still does not start (for example, due to interference from another registered key, an automated toll collection device, or an automatic payment device on your key ring), proceed as follows:

  1. Leave the ignition switch in the ON position for about five seconds.
  2. Then turn it to the OFF or LOCK position and wait about 10 seconds.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2.
  4. Try starting the engine again with your registered NVIS key while keeping the interfering device away from the key.

If the engine still does not start, NISSAN recommends placing your registered NVIS key on a different key ring to avoid interference from other devices.
