Compact spare tire (on some models)

~1min read

On a vehicle equipped with a compact spare tire, the tire is designed to save luggage compartment space, and its low weight makes it easy to replace when a tire is punctured. It is for temporary emergency use only, until the conventional tire is repaired or replaced.
The compact spare tire pressure should be checked at least once a month. Using a pocket tire pressure gauge, set the pressure to 420 kPa. At the same time, check that the wheel is securely attached.
If not, tighten the bolt.
WARNING The compact spare tire is intended for temporary emergency use only. Prolonged use of this tire may cause it to fail and result in loss of vehicle control. When using the tire, observe the following precautions:- Do not exceed 80 km/h
- Do not use snow chains on this tire
- Do not drive the vehicle through an automatic car wash. Reduced ground clearance may cause damage.
- The compact spare tire has a much shorter tread life than conventional tires. Replace the tire as soon as the tread wear indicator appears.
- The compact spare tire and its wheel are designed to work together. Do not fit a compact spare tire to a wheel of another type, and do not fit any other tire to a compact spare wheel.
When replacing the compact spare tire, use a replacement of the same size and construction.
