Clutch Hydraulic System

Bleeding

PROCEDURE
1. Bleed all air from the hydraulic system if any component has been removed or if the master cylinder reservoir has run empty. The bleeding procedure is similar to the brake system bleeding procedure.
2. Fill the master cylinder reservoir with fresh brake fluid of the specified type (see Subsection 2.1).

* Do not reuse hydraulic fluid drained from the hydraulic system during bleeding or fluid that has been stored in an open container for a long time.

3. Raise the vehicle and support it on stands to gain access to the clutch release cylinder, which is located on the left side of the clutch housing.
4. Locate the bleeder valve on the clutch release cylinder (just above the hydraulic line connection). Remove the dust cap from the valve and attach a plastic tube to the valve. Place the other end of the tube into a clean container containing approximately 6 cm of brake fluid. The end of the tube must be submerged in the hydraulic fluid.
5. Ask an assistant to depress the clutch pedal and hold it in this position. Open the bleeder valve on the release cylinder, allowing hydraulic fluid to flow through the hose. Close the valve when fluid stops flowing through the hose. After closing the valve, ask the assistant to release the clutch pedal.
6. Repeat this operation until all air has been removed from the hydraulic system. Clean hydraulic fluid without air bubbles must flow through the tube. Monitor the hydraulic fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir;
if the fluid level drops too low, air will re-enter the hydraulic system and you will have to start over.
7. Install the cap on the bleeder valve and lower the vehicle. Check the operation of the clutch release drive before operating the vehicle.
