Removal PROCEDURE 1. Loosen the bolts securing the adjusting bar and the alternator to the bracket and to the adjusting bar. Pivot the alternator toward the engine block to relieve tension on the alternator belt, and remove the belt. 2. Remove the four crankshaft pulley bolts and remove pulley 2 (see figure

Camshaft Drive). 3. Remove the upper 8 and lower 3 camshaft drive covers. 4. Set the piston of cylinder 1 to TDC. The mark on camshaft sprocket 5 (see figure Camshaft Drive Belt Tension Adjustment) must align with mark B on the cylinder head. 5. Loosen the bolts 1 securing the water pump. Pivot the water pump toward the engine block to relieve tension on camshaft drive belt 3. 6. Remove belt 3 from the sprockets of the water pump, camshaft and crankshaft. Do not rotate the crankshaft or camshaft. 7. Remove bolt 17 (see figure Camshaft and Valves), remove sprocket 14 and remove key 13. 8. Remove the crankshaft sprocket bolt, remove the sprocket and remove the key. Installation PROCEDURE 1. Insert the key into the crankshaft keyway, install the sprocket, install the sprocket bolt with washer and tighten to torque 80 N·m. Mark B (see figure Camshaft Drive Belt Tension Adjustment) must align with mark V on the cylinder head. 2. Insert key 13 (see figure Camshaft and Valves) into the camshaft keyway, install sprocket 14, install bolt 17 with washer 18 and tighten to torque 80 N·m. 3. Temporarily install the crankshaft pulley on the sprocket. Mark A (see figure Camshaft Drive Belt Tension Adjustment) on the pulley must align with the mark on plate 9. Remove the pulley. 4. Install belt 16 (see figure Camshaft and Valves) on the crankshaft, camshaft and water pump sprockets. 5. Tension belt 16 and, turning the water pump, tighten the water pump mounting bolts. Check belt tension. The belt is correctly tensioned if it can be twisted 90° by grasping it with two fingers midway between the camshaft and crankshaft, as shown in figure Camshaft Drive Belt Tension Adjustment. 6. Check that the TDC marks have not moved. 7. Tighten the water pump mounting bolts to torque 10 N·m. 8. Install the upper and lower camshaft drive covers. 9. Install the crankshaft pulley. 10. Install the alternator drive belt on the crankshaft and alternator pulleys. Tension the belt by pivoting the alternator away from the engine block. Tighten the alternator and adjusting bar bolts.
