PROCEDURE

If the engine is removed from the vehicle, simply unscrew the sump bolts and remove the sump together with the gasket. If the engine is installed on the vehicle, remove and install the sump in the following order: PROCEDURE 1. Remove drain plug 5 (see figure Cylinder Block and Sump), drain the oil from the engine, install the plug, and tighten it to 30 N·m. 2. Apply the parking brake. 3. Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and support it on stands. 4. Disconnect the wires from the alternator by unplugging the connector. 5. Remove the spring clips and disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. 6. Unscrew bolts 9 and remove sump 10 with gasket 11. 7. Install the sump in the reverse order. When installing the sump, replace gasket 11. Tighten the sump bolts evenly in a crisscross pattern to 20 N·m.
