Cylinder Head Assembly
PROCEDURE 1. Install the valve into the valve guide, after lubricating it with engine oil. 2. Install the valve spring lower seat 4 (see figure Camshaft and Valves). 3. Slide a plastic sleeve onto the valve stem to avoid damaging the sharp edge of the valve stem seal. 4. Install the valve stem seal 5 using the special tool.
Remove the plastic sleeve from the valve stem. 5. Install valve spring 6 and spring retainer 7. 6. Using the special tool, compress the valve spring and install the valve keepers 8. Remove the valve spring compressor. Tap the end of the valve stem with a soft-faced hammer to seat the keepers correctly. 7. Install the remaining valves in the same way. 8. Lubricate the camshaft journals 12 with engine oil and carefully insert the camshaft into the cylinder head. 9. Press the camshaft oil seal in using a mandrel. 10. Install plate 16 (see figure Ignition Distributor) with gasket 17. Tighten bolts 18 to 20 N·m. 11. Insert key 13 into the camshaft keyway and install gear 14. Install bolt 17 with washer 18 and tighten the bolt to 80 N·m. 12. Install the adjusting bolts 9. 13. Install rocker arms 10 and springs 11. 14. Install the ignition distributor. 15. Install the fuel pump. Cylinder Head Assembly for MH and 2G Engines (with Hydraulic Valve Lifters)

Bearing Cap Numbers for MH and 2G Engines A – projection of the bearing cap facing the intake manifold; B – bearing number stamped on the cap
PROCEDURE 1. Install the valves as described above in steps 1–7.
2. Install the hydraulic valve lifters in accordance with the marks made during disassembly, after lubricating them with engine oil. 3. Place the camshaft on the bearings. 4. Install bearing caps No. 2 and 4. Install the cap retaining nuts and gradually tighten them diagonally to torque 6 N·m, then loosen them by a quarter turn. 5. Install bearing caps No. 3, 1 and 5. Tighten the bearing nuts in the same way as in the previous step. Tighten the nuts of cap No. 5 to torque 10 N·m. 6. Install the camshaft sprocket, install the sprocket bolt and tighten to torque 80 N·m. 7. Install the ignition distributor and fuel pump.
