The transponder key of the Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) provides extensive functions for locking and unlocking as well as starting the engine. This section explains the differences between the basic version and the PCC (Personal Car Communicator), and describes what to do if a key is lost. It also describes how additional keys can be ordered and which security measures to take if a key is lost. Child safety notes when leaving the vehicle complete the information.

Transponder key

The transponder key is used, among other things, for locking and unlocking and for starting the engine.

The transponder key is available in two versions: transponder key in basic version and transponder key with PCC (Personal Car Communicator)*.

Compared with the transponder key in basic version, the version with PCC has extended functionality, including support for Keyless Drive and certain special functions.

All transponder keys have a detachable metal key blade. The visible part is available in two designs so that the transponder keys can be told apart.

Additional transponder keys can be reordered, but this only applies to the key version supplied with the vehicle.

Up to six keys can be programmed and used for one vehicle.

The vehicle is supplied with two transponder keys.

WARNING

If children are in the vehicle: always remember to cut off the power supply to the windows and sunroof by removing the transponder key when you leave the vehicle as driver.

Transponder Key - Loss

If a transponder key is lost, a new one can be ordered from a workshop; an authorized Volvo workshop is recommended.

The remaining transponder keys must be taken to an authorized Volvo workshop. As a preventive anti-theft measure, the code of the lost transponder key is deleted from the system.

The transponder key of the Volvo S80 (2nd gen) combines convenience and security. It enables easy locking and unlocking, engine starting, and many other functions. Even if a key is lost, safe replacement is guaranteed through an authorized Volvo workshop.

All keys are uniquely coded, so that only authorized keys can start the vehicle. This considerably increases theft protection.
