Exhaust System

Separating the Exhaust Pipe from the Exhaust Manifold

~1min read

PROCEDURE

The studs on which the exhaust pipe nuts are mounted break easily if you try to unscrew a heavily rusted nut without preliminary treatment.

Therefore, before starting work, treat the connection nuts with rust remover spray or (often even better): cut the nuts off with a sharp chisel. As a rule, they consist of very soft material with a threaded part inside. The threaded part must then be separately removed from the stud threads.

New nuts from the exhaust system mounting kit are also made of this soft material. Therefore, do not use any other nuts from your home supply. Tightening torque: 35 N·m.
