Lighting Check

Routine Check

PROCEDURE

Turn the ignition on and check each lighting unit in turn:
Parking lights (side marker lights), low beam, integrated fog lights (if equipped), high beam.

Front turn signals, right and left, and hazard warning lights.

Tail lights and license plate lights, and the rear fog light.

Rear turn signals, hazard warning lights, and reversing lights.

Brake lights. For this you will need an assistant.

Tip: Attentive drivers check the lighting system almost every time they drive at night. A burned-out headlight bulb is noticeable by a narrow band of light in front of the vehicle. When driving in a line of traffic, the bumper or paint of the vehicle ahead reflects the light from the headlights and front turn signals. In front of a light-colored wall, you can check without leaving the vehicle whether both light spots are visible and whether the amber turn signal is flashing. A light-colored wall can also be used to check the tail lights.
