Front airbags

System that protects the driver and front passenger in the event of a severe frontal impact, to reduce the risk of head and chest injuries.
For the driver, the airbag is built into the centre of the steering wheel; for the front passenger, it is in the dashboard above the glove box.
The front airbags are adaptive. In particular, their firmness decreases when an occupant of small stature is present with the seat adjusted to a forward longitudinal position.
Deployment
They deploy, except the front passenger airbag if it has been deactivated*, in the event of a severe frontal impact on all or part of frontal impact zone A.
The front airbag comes between the occupant's chest and head and the steering wheel (driver side) or the dashboard (passenger side), to cushion forward movement.
* For more information on Deactivating the front passenger airbag, refer to the corresponding section.
Side airbags
At the front

This system protects the driver and front passenger in the event of a severe side impact, to reduce the risk of chest injuries between the hip and the shoulder.
Each side airbag is built into the seat back frame, on the door side.
Deployment
The side airbags deploy on one side only in the event of a severe side impact on all or part of side impact zone B.
The side airbag comes between the occupant's hip and shoulder and the corresponding door panel.
Curtain airbags
This system helps enhance protection of the driver and passengers (except the centre rear passenger) in the event of a severe side impact, to reduce the risk of head injuries on the side of the head.
Each curtain airbag is built into the pillars and the upper part of the passenger compartment.
Deployment
It deploys simultaneously with the corresponding side airbag in the event of a severe side impact on all or part of side impact zone B.
The curtain airbag comes between the front and rear occupants and the corresponding windows.
