Malfunction
If this warning light comes on in the instrument cluster, you must have the system checked by the CITROËN Network or a qualified workshop.
The airbags may not deploy in the event of a severe impact.
In the event of an impact or minor collision on the side of the vehicle or in a rollover, the airbags may not deploy.
In a rear or frontal collision, none of the side airbags will deploy.
Tips
For the airbags to be fully effective, observe the safety rules below.
Adopt a normal, upright seating position.
Sit properly in your seat and position the seat belt correctly.
Do not place anything between the occupants and the airbags (e.g. a child, an animal or an object), and do not attach or stick anything near or in the exit path of the airbags; this could cause injury when they deploy.
Never modify the original design of the vehicle, especially in the immediate area of the airbags.
Even when all the precautions above are observed, there is still a risk of injury or minor burns to the head, chest or arms when an airbag deploys. The bag inflates almost instantly (within a few milliseconds), then deflates just as quickly, releasing hot gases through the vents provided for this purpose.
After an accident or if the vehicle has been stolen, have the airbag systems checked.
Any work must be carried out exclusively by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Front airbags
Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or with your hands resting on the centre hub of the steering wheel.
Do not place your feet on the dashboard on the passenger side.
Never dismantle, drill or subject the steering wheel to violent blows.
Do not attach or stick anything to the steering wheel or dashboard; this could cause injury when the airbags deploy.
Side airbags
Cover the seats only with approved seat covers that are compatible with airbag deployment. To find the range of covers suitable for your vehicle, consult a CITROËN dealer.
Do not attach or stick anything to the seatbacks (e.g. clothing); this could cause chest or arm injury when the airbag deploys.
Do not lean your upper body closer to the door than necessary.
The front door panels contain side impact sensors.
A damaged door or any non-compliant work (modification or repair) on the front doors or their interior trim may affect the operation of these sensors - Risk of side airbag malfunction! Any work must be carried out exclusively by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Curtain airbags
Do not attach or stick anything to the roof lining; this could cause head injury when the curtain airbag deploys.
Do not remove the grab handles fitted to the roof lining.
