Fuel compatibility

Petrol fuels conforming to standard EN228 containing up to 5% and 10% ethanol respectively.

Diesel fuels conforming to standards EN590, EN16734 and EN16709 and containing up to 7%, 10%, 20% and 30% Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) respectively.

Even occasional use of B20 or B30 fuels requires special maintenance conditions known as "severe driving conditions".

Paraffinic diesel fuel conforming to standard EN15940.

The use of any other type of (bio)fuel (for example: pure or diluted vegetable or animal oils, domestic heating oil) is strictly prohibited - risk of damage to the engine and fuel system!

Only the use of fuel additives complying with standards B715001 (Petrol) or B715000 (Diesel) is permitted.

Diesel at low temperatures

At temperatures below 0 ºC (+32 ºF), paraffin formation in summer-grade diesel can prevent the engine from running correctly. In these temperature conditions, use winter-grade diesel and keep more than 50% of the tank capacity in fuel.

At temperatures below -15 ºC (+5 ºF), to avoid starting problems, park the vehicle under shelter (heated garage) whenever possible.

Travelling abroad

Some fuels may damage the engine.

In some countries, it may be required to use a specific type of fuel (specific octane rating, specific commercial designation, etc.) to ensure correct engine operation.
