Poly-V Belt Tension Inspection and Adjustment
PROCEDURE
1. Check the condition of the poly-V belt and its routing on the pulleys.
Check that the ribs of the poly-V belt are correctly seated in the pulley grooves.
If the poly-V belt makes abnormal noise during operation, check the belt for wear and damage, as well as the pulley contact surfaces.

2. Measure the alternator drive belt tension with a special tool. If the special tool is not available, check the belt tension by pressing on the belt with a force of 100 N (10 kg) at a point equidistant from the pulleys and measure the belt deflection.
Alternator drive belt tension:
New belt: 65-75 kg
Used belt: 40 kg
Inspection: 35-50 kg
Alternator and power steering pump drive belt tension:
New belt: 55-70 kg
Used belt: 38-48 kg
Alternator and air conditioning compressor drive belt tension:
New belt: 60-70 kg
Used belt: 32-40 kg
Inspection: 25-50 kg
A used belt is a belt that has run on the engine for more than 5 minutes.
