PROCEDURE

1. Inspect the cylinder head for damage, cracks, and oil or coolant leaks. If necessary, replace the cylinder head.
2. Remove carbon deposits from the combustion chambers. Use compressed air to blow out the lubrication passages.

3. Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, check the flatness of the cylinder head in six directions. If necessary, resurface the cylinder head.
Maximum resurfacing: 0.08 mm
4. Replace or repair the cylinder head if any of the following defects are found:
– burnt valve seats;
– damage to the mating surface for the intake and exhaust manifolds;
– damage to the seats for the camshaft oil seals.
