Fuel pump pressure test

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the rear seat cushion and remove the fuel pump inspection cover.
2. To relieve fuel system pressure, disconnect the fuel pump connector, start the engine, and let it run until it stalls from lack of fuel in the fuel lines and fuel rail.

Before disconnecting the fuel lines, relieve the fuel system pressure, otherwise pressurized fuel will spray out of the fuel system.

3. Disconnect the negative battery cable and connect the fuel pump connector.

4. Install the pressure gauge adapter (09353-24000, 09353-24100, 09353-38000) to the fuel filter and tighten the mounting bolt to the specified torque.
Torque: 25–35 N·m
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
6. Using jumper wires, apply voltage to the fuel pump connector and check that there are no fuel leaks from the gauge connections.
7. Start the engine and let it idle.
8. Measure the fuel pressure.
Fuel pressure: 350 kPa
9. If the readings in steps 7 and 8 do not meet the specified fuel pressure, determine the cause and perform the necessary repairs.

10. Stop the engine and read the fuel pressure on the gauge after 5 minutes. The pressure should not change. If the fuel pressure has dropped significantly, determine the cause and perform the necessary repairs.

11. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
12. Disconnect the hose and the pressure gauge.

Cover the connection with a rag to prevent fuel spray caused by residual pressure in the fuel line.

13. Replace the O-ring at the end of the hose.
14. Connect the hose to the fuel rail and tighten the union nut to the specified torque.
15. Check the fuel system for leaks.
