LKA System Operation

To turn the LKA system on/off:
With the ignition switch in the ON position, press the LKA system button located on the instrument panel on the right side of the steering wheel.
The indicator on the cluster display will first illuminate white. This indicates that the LKA system is in the READY state but NOT ENGAGED.
Note that the vehicle speed must be at least approximately 37 mph (60 km/h) to ENGAGE the LKA system. The indicator on the cluster display will illuminate green.

The indicator color changes depending on the LKA system status.
- White: The sensor does not detect lane lines or the vehicle speed is less than 60 km/h.
- Green: The sensor detects lane lines and the system is able to control the steering of the vehicle.
Activating the LKA System

- To view the LKA system screen on the LCD display in the cluster, select the ASSIST mode (
). For more information, refer to "LCD Display Modes" in Chapter 3. - When both lane lines are detected and all conditions for activation of the LKA system are satisfied, the green indicator on the steering wheel will illuminate and the LKA system indicator will change from white to green. This indicates that the LKA system is in the ENABLED state and steering control can be provided.
WARNING
The Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) system is a system that helps prevent the driver from unintentionally leaving the lane. However, the driver should not rely solely on the system and should always check road conditions while driving.

- If the system detects a lane line, the color changes from gray to white.
- If the system detects the left lane line, the color of the left lane line will change from gray to white.
- If the system detects the right lane line, the color of the right lane line will change from gray to white.
- Both lane lines must be detected for the system to be fully activated.
- If the vehicle speed exceeds 60 km/h and the LKA system button is turned on, the system is enabled. If your vehicle departs from the projected lane ahead of you, the LKA system operates as follows:

A visual warning will appear on the cluster LCD display. Either the left lane line or the right lane line on the cluster LCD will flash, depending on the direction in which the vehicle is drifting.
If the steering wheel is required, the system will control the vehicle's steering so that the vehicle does not cross the lane line.
Keep Hands on Steering Wheel

If the driver removes hands from the steering wheel for several seconds while the LKA system is active, the system will warn the driver.
Information
If the steering wheel is held very lightly, the message may appear because the LKA system may not recognize that the driver has hands on the steering wheel.
WARNING
The warning message may be delayed depending on road conditions. Therefore, always keep hands on the steering wheel while driving.
Driver's grip not detected. LKA system temporarily deactivated.

If the driver still does not have hands on the steering wheel after the message "Keep hands on steering wheel" appears, the system will not control the steering wheel and will warn the driver only when the driver crosses the lane lines.
However, if the driver's hands are back on the steering wheel, the system will start controlling steering again.
WARNING
- The driver is responsible for accurate steering.
- Turn off the system and drive the vehicle in the following situations.
- In bad weather
- In poor road conditions
- When steering must be controlled by the driver frequently.
Information
- Even though steering is assisted by the system, the driver can still control the steering wheel.
- The steering wheel may feel heavier when steering is assisted by the system than when it is not.
