System Malfunction

Hyundai i30. System malfunction

Check FCA (Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist).

  • If the FCA system does not operate properly, the FCA indicator light (Hyundai i30. System malfunction) will illuminate and a warning message will appear for several seconds. After the message disappears, the master warning light (Hyundai i30. System malfunction) will illuminate. In this case, we recommend having the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • The FCA warning message may appear together with the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) indicator light.

WARNING

  • FCA is only a supplemental system for driver convenience. The driver must take responsibility for controlling the vehicle. Do not rely solely on the FCA system. Instead, maintain a safe braking distance, and press the brake pedal to reduce driving speed if necessary.
  • Under certain conditions and driving situations, the FCA system may activate unintentionally. This initial warning message appears on the LCD display with a warning chime. Also, in certain cases the front radar sensor or camera recognition system may not detect an upcoming vehicle or pedestrian. The FCA system may not activate and the warning message will not be displayed.
  • Even if there is a problem with the braking control function of the FCA system, the basic braking performance of the vehicle will operate normally. However, the collision-avoidance braking control function will not be activated.
  • If the vehicle ahead stops suddenly, you may have less control of the braking system. Therefore, always keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
  • The FCA system may activate during braking, and the vehicle may stop suddenly, causing unsecured items to move toward the passengers. Always keep unsecured items secured.
  • The FCA system may not activate if the driver applies the brake pedal to avoid a collision.
  • The FCA system may not activate depending on road conditions, inclement weather, driving conditions, or traffic conditions.
  • Braking control may be insufficient, which may result in a collision if the vehicle ahead stops suddenly. Always exercise extreme caution.
  • Passengers may be injured if the vehicle stops suddenly when the FCA system is activated. Exercise extreme caution.

WARNING

  • The FCA system does not operate when the vehicle is in reverse.
  • The FCA system is not designed to detect other objects on the road, such as animals.
  • The FCA system does not detect vehicles in the oncoming lane.
  • The FCA system does not detect crossing vehicles approaching from the side.
  • The FCA system cannot detect a parked vehicle from the side when approaching it (e.g., at a dead-end street).

In these cases, maintain a safe braking distance, and press the brake pedal as necessary to reduce driving speed and maintain a safe distance.
