System Setting and Activation
System Settings
• The driver can activate FCA by setting the ignition switch to the ON position and selecting: "User Settings → Driver Assistance → FCA (Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist)".
FCA is deactivated when the driver cancels the system setting.

The indicator light illuminates on the LCD display when FCA is cancelled. The driver can check the FCA ON/OFF status on the LCD display. In addition, the warning light illuminates when ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is turned off. If the indicator light remains on when FCA is activated, we recommend having the system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
• The driver can select the initial warning timing on the LCD display.
Go to "User Settings → Driver Assistance → Forward Collision Warning → Late/Normal/Early".
The Forward Collision Warning timing options include the following:
- Late:
When this setting is selected, the initial forward collision warning is activated later than normal. This setting reduces the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning appears.
Select "Late" when traffic is light and driving speed is low.
- Normal:
When this setting is selected, the initial forward collision warning is activated at the normal timing. This setting provides a normal distance between your vehicle and the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning appears.
- Early:
When this setting is selected, the initial forward collision warning is activated earlier than normal. This setting maximizes the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning appears.
Even though "Early" is selected, if the vehicle ahead suddenly stops, the initial warning may not appear as quickly as expected.
Activation Conditions
FCA is ready to activate when FCA is selected on the LCD display and the following conditions are met.
- ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is on.
- Vehicle speed is above 6 mph (10 km/h). (FCA is activated only within a specific speed range.)
- The system detects a pedestrian or a vehicle ahead that may collide with your vehicle. (FCA may not activate or a warning may sound depending on the road situation or vehicle condition.)
❈ FCA may not operate properly depending on the frontal situation, pedestrian direction, and speed.
WARNING
- Stop the vehicle completely in a safe place before operating the steering wheel switch to activate/deactivate the FCA system.
- FCA is automatically activated when the Engine Start/Stop button is placed in the ON position. The driver can deactivate FCA by changing the system settings on the LCD display.
- FCA is automatically deactivated when ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is turned off. When ESC is turned off, FCA cannot be activated on the LCD display. The FCA warning light will illuminate, which is normal.
