Driving Your Vehicle

System Limitations

~4min read

The driver should be careful in the following situations, because the system may not detect other vehicles or objects under certain circumstances:

  • When a trailer or carrier is installed.
  • The vehicle is driven in bad weather conditions, such as heavy rain or snow.
  • The sensor is contaminated with rain, snow, mud, etc.
  • The rear bumper where the sensor is located is covered with foreign material, such as a bumper sticker, bumper guard, bicycle rack, etc.
  • The rear bumper is damaged or the sensor is not in its original default position.
  • The vehicle height becomes lower or higher due to heavy loading in the luggage compartment, abnormal tire pressure, etc.
  • The rear bumper temperature is high.
  • When the sensors are blocked by other vehicles, walls, or parking lot pillars.
  • The vehicle is driven on a curved road.
  • The vehicle passes through a toll gate.
  • The road surface (or surrounding ground) contains abnormal metal components (e.g., due to subway construction).
  • A stationary object, such as a guardrail, is located next to the vehicle.
  • When driving down or up a steep road where the height of the lane is different.
  • Driving on a narrow road where trees or grass are overgrown.
  • Driving in rural areas where the sensor does not detect another vehicle or structure for a long period of time.
  • Driving on a wet road.
  • Driving on a road where the guardrail or wall has a double structure.
  • A large vehicle, such as a bus or truck, is nearby.
  • When another vehicle approaches very closely.
  • When another vehicle passes at a very high speed.
  • When changing lanes.
  • If the vehicle starts simultaneously with a vehicle next to you and accelerates.
  • When a vehicle in the adjacent lane moves away from you by two lanes, OR when a vehicle two lanes away moves into the next lane next to you.
  • A motorcycle or bicycle is nearby.
  • A flat trailer is nearby.
  • If there is an object in the detection area, such as a shopping cart or baby stroller.
  • If there is a low vehicle, such as a sports car.
  • The brake pedal is depressed.
  • ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is activated.
  • The ESC (Electronic Stability Control) malfunctions.
  • The tire pressure is low or a tire is damaged.
  • The brakes are worn.
  • The vehicle changes direction abruptly.
  • The vehicle makes a sudden lane change.
  • The vehicle stops abruptly.
  • The temperature around the vehicle is extremely low.
  • The vehicle vibrates strongly while driving on a rough or bumpy road or a concrete section.
  • The vehicle is driven on a slippery surface due to snow, water puddles, or ice.
  • The Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) system does not operate normally. For more details, refer to "Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)" in this chapter.
Hyundai Palisade. Limitations of the System

• Driving on curves

The BCW and BCA systems may not operate properly when driving on a curved road. In some cases, the system may not detect a vehicle in an adjacent lane. Always pay attention to the road and driving conditions while driving.

Hyundai Palisade. Limitations of the System

The BCW and BCA systems may not operate properly when driving on a curved road. In some cases, the system may recognize a vehicle in the same lane.

Always pay attention to the road and driving conditions while driving.

Hyundai Palisade. Limitations of the System

• Driving at a merging/diverging road

The BCW and BCA systems may not operate properly when driving where the road merges or divides. In some cases, the system may not detect a vehicle in the next lane.

Always pay attention to the road and driving conditions while driving.

Hyundai Palisade. Limitations of the System

• Driving on slopes

The BCW and BCA systems may not operate properly when driving on a slope. In some cases, the system may not detect a vehicle in the adjacent lane.

In addition, in some cases, the system may recognize the ground or structures.

Always pay attention to the road and driving conditions while driving.

Hyundai Palisade. Limitations of the System

• Driving where the road height differs

The BCW and BCA systems may not operate properly when driving where the height of the lanes is different.

In some cases, the system may not detect a vehicle on a road with lanes at different heights (e.g., the entrance area of an underpass, slopes at certain intersections, etc.).

Always pay attention to the road and driving conditions while driving.

Hyundai Palisade. Limitations of the System

[A]: Noise barrier, [B]: Guardrail

• Driving where there is a structure near the road

The BCW and BCA systems may not operate properly when driving where there is a structure next to the road.

In some cases, the system may recognize structures (e.g., noise barriers, fences, double guardrails, median strips, posts, street lights, road signs, tunnel walls, etc.) next to the road.

Always pay attention to the road and driving conditions while driving.
