Tire Replacement

If a tire wears evenly, the tread wear indicator will appear as a solid band across the tread. This indicates less than 1/16 in (1.6 mm) of tread remaining on the tire. Replace the tire when this occurs.
Do not wait until the indicator bands appear across the entire length of the tread before replacing the tire.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY:
- Replace worn tires or tires showing uneven wear or damage. Worn tires may result in reduced braking performance, steering control, and traction.
- Always replace tires with the same size as the original tires supplied with this vehicle. Using tires and wheels other than the recommended sizes may result in abnormal handling, poor vehicle control, or adversely affect your vehicle's Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), resulting in a serious accident.
- When replacing tires (or wheels), it is recommended to replace both front or both rear tires (or wheels) as a pair. Replacing only one tire may seriously affect vehicle handling.
- Tires age over time, even when not in use. Regardless of remaining tread depth, HYUNDAI recommends that tires be replaced after six (6) years of normal service.
- Heat from hot climates or frequent high-load conditions can accelerate the aging process. Failure to observe this warning may result in sudden tire failure, which may lead to loss of vehicle control and an accident.
Compact Spare Tire Replacement
A compact spare tire has a shorter tread life than a standard-size tire. Replace it when the tread wear indicator bars appear on the tire. A replacement compact spare tire must be the same size and design as the tire supplied with your new vehicle and must be installed on the same compact spare wheel. The compact spare tire is not designed to be installed on a standard-size wheel, and a standard-size tire is not designed to be installed on the compact spare wheel.
WARNING
The original tire should be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid failure of the spare tire and loss of vehicle control, resulting in an accident. The compact spare tire is for temporary emergency use only. Do not drive faster than 50 mph (80 km/h) when using the compact spare tire.
