Tire Pressure Check
Check the tires at least once a month.
Also check the spare tire pressure.
Inspection Procedure
Always use a quality tire pressure gauge to check tire pressure. You cannot visually determine whether tires are properly inflated. Radial tires may appear to be properly inflated when they are underinflated.
Check the cold tire pressure. This means the vehicle should not have been driven for the previous 3 hours or driven more than 1.6 km (1 mile).
Remove the valve stem cap from the tire. Press the gauge onto the valve to measure the pressure.
If the cold pressure matches the recommended pressure shown on the tire and the vehicle loading information label, no adjustment is required. If the pressure is low, add air until the recommended value is reached.
If you have added too much air, release the excess pressure by pressing the metal pin in the center of the valve. Recheck the pressure with a gauge. Be sure to reinstall the tire valve caps. They prevent air leakage by keeping dirt and moisture out of the valves.
WARNING
- Check tire pressure regularly and inspect the tires for wear and damage. Always use a gauge.
- Overinflated or underinflated tires wear unevenly, which can lead to loss of handling, loss of vehicle control and sudden tire failure, which can result in accidents and serious or even fatal injuries. The recommended cold tire pressure is specified in this manual and on the label attached to the driver's side center pillar.
- Worn tires can cause an accident. Replace tires that are worn, unevenly worn, or damaged.
- Be sure to check the spare tire pressure. HYUNDAI recommends checking the spare tire pressure each time you check the pressure of the other tires on your vehicle.
