Tire Rotation

~1min read

To achieve even tread wear, it is recommended to rotate tires every 12,000 km (7,500 miles) or at shorter intervals if uneven wear occurs.

During this procedure, check tire balance and look for signs of uneven wear and damage. Abnormal wear is usually caused by incorrect tire pressure, incorrect wheel alignment, incorrect tire balance, or hard braking or cornering. Inspect the tread and sidewall of the tire. If you notice any bulges or protrusions, replace the tire.

Replace the tire if the cords or fabric are visible. After replacement, adjust the front and rear tire pressures to the recommended values and make sure the wheel nuts are tightened.

See "Tires and Wheels" in Chapter 8.

■ Without spare tire

Check brake pad wear when rotating the tires.

Information

The outer and inner sides of asymmetric tires are easily identifiable. When mounting an asymmetric tire, always place the side marked as OUTSIDE facing outward. Installing it with the wrong side outward will affect vehicle performance.

WARNING

  • Do not use a compact spare tire when replacing a tire.
  • Never mix bias-ply tires with radial tires. This may cause unusual vehicle behavior, which may result in property damage, serious injury or death.
