Driving with a Trailer
Towing a trailer requires certain skills. Before driving on the road, familiarize yourself with the trailer's design. Learn the handling characteristics (including braking) of a vehicle whose weight has been increased by the additional weight of the trailer. Always remember that your vehicle is now much longer and harder to control than a single vehicle.
Before driving, check the hitch and trailer platform, safety chains, electrical connectors, lights, tires and mirror adjustment. If the trailer has an electric braking system, start moving and check its operation using the hand control unit. This also allows you to check the electrical connector at the same time.
During the trip, periodically check that the cargo is securely fastened, and check the operation of the trailer brakes and lights.
