Turn Signals When Towing a Trailer

~1min read

While towing a trailer, the vehicle must have different turn signal indicators and additional wiring.

Each time the turn signals are activated when turning or changing lanes, the green arrows on the instrument panel will flash. When properly connected, the trailer lights must flash at the same time to warn other drivers of your intention to turn, change lanes or stop.

If you are towing a trailer, the green turn signal arrows on the instrument panel will flash even if the trailer turn signal bulbs have burned out. Therefore, you may assume that drivers behind you can see your signals, which is not true. It is important to check the trailer lamps from time to time to make sure they are still working. Trailer lights must also be checked each time the wiring is disconnected and reconnected.

Do not connect the trailer lighting system directly to the similar vehicle system.

Use only a special, approved trailer wiring harness.

An authorized HYUNDAI dealer can help you install the wiring harness.

WARNING

Using an unapproved trailer wiring harness may damage the vehicle's electrical system and/or cause injury.
