Checking Tire Air Pressure

Check the tire pressure at least once a month.

Also check the spare tire pressure.

Checking Procedure

Use a quality tire pressure gauge to check the tire pressure.

Whether tire pressure matches the recommended value cannot be determined by visual inspection; measurement is required.

Radial tires may look properly inflated even when the pressure is low.

Check the tire pressure when the tires are cold. - Tires are considered "cold" if the vehicle has not been driven for at least three hours or has been driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile).

Remove the cap from the tire valve.

To measure the tire pressure, press the tire pressure gauge firmly onto the valve stem. If the pressure with cold tires matches the recommended value shown on the tire and on the vehicle load information label, no further pressure adjustment is required. If the pressure is too low, inflate the tire until the specified pressure is reached.

If the tire pressure is too high, release the excess air by pressing the metal pin in the center of the tire valve. Recheck the pressure with the gauge. When finished, be sure to install the valve cap on the tire valve. This prevents air leakage and protects the valve from dirt and moisture.

WARNING

• Regularly check the tire pressure, as well as the tires for wear or damage. Always use a tire pressure gauge when checking.
• Tires with excessive or insufficient air pressure wear unevenly. As a result, vehicle handling deteriorates, the vehicle may lose control, or the tire may suddenly burst, which can lead to accidents, injuries, or death.

The recommended cold tire pressure is specified in this manual and on the tire information label located on the driver's side center pillar.
• Worn or old tires can cause an accident.

Worn or damaged tires, as well as tires with uneven wear, must be replaced.
• Do not forget to check the air pressure in the spare tire. HYUNDAI recommends checking the spare tire pressure each time you check the pressure of the road wheel tires.
