Description and Operation

Description

BI TYPE

  1. Definition

    • Headlamp with Integrated High and Low Beam Functions

    • The light is controlled by rotating a screen inserted into the lens. (A solenoid is applied.)

  2. Structure and Mechanism

    • When operating as a low beam

      : The lamp illuminates the limited low beam area by blocking light with the stopped shield.

    • When operating as a high beam

      : Light is not blocked by the open screen, and light illuminates the high beam area.

Repair Procedures

Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. Remove the front bumper assembly.

    (Refer to Body - "Front Bumper Assembly")

  3. Remove the diagnostic connector (A).

  4. Disconnect the headlamp connector (A).

  5. Remove the headlamp (A) after loosening the mounting bolts.

  6. Disconnect the headlamp connector (A).

Installation

  1. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Replacement

Lamp

[Low Beam]

  1. Remove the headlamp assembly.

  2. Remove the dust cap (A) by turning it counterclockwise.

  3. Disconnect the low beam lamp connector (A).

  4. Remove the low beam socket (A) by turning it counterclockwise.

  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

[High Beam]

  1. Remove the headlamp assembly.

  2. Remove the dust cap (A) by turning it counterclockwise.

  3. Remove the high beam socket (A) by turning it counterclockwise.

  4. Remove the high beam lamp (A) from the connector.

  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Moisture Absorber

  1. Turn off the headlamp switch.

  2. Remove the dust cap (A) by turning it counterclockwise.

  3. Remove the moisture absorber bracket (A) from the dust cap after loosening the mounting screws (B).

  4. Remove the moisture absorbing element (A) from the dust cap (B).

  5. Fold the new moisture absorbing material as shown in the illustration below.

  6. Insert the moisture absorber (A) with the bent sides facing up.

  7. After installing the moisture absorber bracket (A), tighten the mounting screws (B).

  8. Install the dust cap (A) on the headlamp assembly by turning it clockwise.
