Fresh Air / Recirculation Control

~2min read

The fresh air/recirculation switch in the Kia Opirus (2003–2012) offers flexible options for controlling the cabin air. While recirculation mode increases air circulation inside the vehicle, fresh air mode provides a continuous exchange with outside air. This section warns against operating recirculation mode for extended periods, as it can cause window fogging and oxygen deficiency. Especially on longer trips, use of the fresh air function is recommended to maintain alertness.

This button lets you choose between drawing in fresh air from outside and recirculating the cabin air.

Press the button to select the other mode.

Recirculation switch

The switch indicator light illuminates when recirculation mode is on.

In recirculation mode, the air inside the vehicle is drawn in and heated or cooled according to the temperature setting(s).

Fresh air switch

The switch indicator light is off when fresh air mode is on.

In fresh air mode, outside air is supplied and heated or cooled according to the temperature setting(s).

When the engine is started, fresh air intake is switched on automatically. Press the button once if you want to switch on recirculation mode.

NOTE

Please note that during prolonged use of recirculation mode, both the windshield and the side windows may fog up, and air quality decreases.

Furthermore, prolonged use of recirculation mode leads to extreme humidity inside the vehicle.

WARNING
  • If recirculation mode is switched on for an extended period, this can lead to increased humidity inside the vehicle. As a result, the windows may fog up and visibility may be impaired.
  • Do not sleep in a vehicle with the air conditioning or heating switched on. This could cause health damage or death due to oxygen deficiency and/or temperature build-up.
  • Continued use of recirculation mode can cause fatigue, drowsiness and loss of control of the vehicle. Drive with fresh air mode switched on as much as possible so that fresh air is supplied from outside.
