The key technology of the Kia Opirus is versatile and designed for security and convenience. Whether master key, remote control or electronic key, each version offers functions tailored to different situations. It is especially practical to be able to secure certain areas such as the glove box or trunk when handing over the vehicle. This not only controls access but also protects privacy, a clear plus for security.

The key code is stamped into a plate. If a new key is needed because a key has been lost, an authorized KIA dealer can supply a new key using the key code. Remove the plate from the key ring and keep it in a safe place. Additionally, write down the key code and keep the code in an easily accessible, secure place, but not in the vehicle.

CAUTION - Ignition key

It is dangerous to leave children alone in the vehicle with the ignition key, even if the key is not in the ignition switch. Children could insert the ignition key into the ignition switch. This would allow children to operate the power windows and other functions or even set the vehicle in motion. This could lead to situations that result in serious or fatal injuries. Never leave the ignition key in the vehicle with unattended children.

WARNING

Use only original KIA keys for your vehicle. If a key from the aftermarket is used, there is a risk that the ignition switch will not automatically return from the START position to the ON position. If this occurs, the starter motor continues to run and will be damaged.

There is also a risk of fire due to overloading of the corresponding wiring.

Restricted key functions

If you have to leave your key with parking attendants when parking, you can ensure in the following way that the glove box and trunk cannot be opened during your absence.

Master and secondary key (version A)

  1. Unlock the glove box with the master key and open it.
  2. Set the trunk lock switch to the OFF position. In this position the switch button is not pressed. In the OFF position, the trunk lid cannot be opened either with the release lever inside the vehicle or with the remote control.
  3. Close the glove box and lock it with the master key.
  4. Hand the spare key over to the attendant. The trunk and glove box are now secured, because the spare key can only operate the ignition switch and the door lock.

  4. Close the glove box and lock it with the mechanical spare key.
