Central locking with remote control
The remote control of the Kia Opirus allows convenient locking and unlocking of all doors and the trunk, even from a distance. Important notes on range, battery care and signal interference help you avoid malfunctions and use the system reliably over the long term. This keeps the central locking always ready for use.

NOTE
The remote control does not work under the following conditions:
- The ignition key is inserted in the ignition switch.
- The maximum transmitter range (approx. 10 m) has been exceeded.
- The transmitter battery is discharged.
- Other vehicles or objects are blocking the signal.
- Extremely low outside temperatures are present.
- The transmitter is near a radio or airport transmitter that may interfere with the frequencies of the remote control (433 MHz).
If the remote control does not work properly, unlock and lock the door with the vehicle key.
If you have problems with your remote control, contact an authorized KIA dealer.
NOTE
Do not let water or other liquids get into the remote control. If the remote control fails due to water or other liquids entering it, this is not covered by the vehicle warranty.
The transmitter range can vary depending on the surroundings. This applies when the vehicle is parked near, for example, administrative buildings, radio transmitters, military facilities, airports, transmission masts, medical practices and other facilities with possible interference radiation.
Remember to unlock the doors with the remote control if they were previously locked with the remote control. If a door that was previously locked with the remote control is unlocked with the vehicle key, the alarm system will sound its warning tone.
You can switch off the alarm by inserting the ignition key into the ignition switch and turning it to the "ON" position for at least 30 seconds.

Replace transmitter battery
The remote transmitter contains a 3 V lithium battery, which normally does not need to be replaced for several years. If the battery needs to be replaced, proceed as follows:
- Insert a thin tool into the housing groove and carefully pry the transmitter housing (1) apart.
- Remove the old battery and insert a new one.
Make sure the plus (+) symbol faces up as shown.
- Reassemble the transmitter housing and press it together until it clicks into place.
NOTE
The central locking remote transmitter is designed to operate reliably for years. However, malfunctions may occur if the remote transmitter is exposed to moisture or static electricity. If you have questions about the function of the remote transmitter or about replacing the battery, contact an authorized Kia dealer.
CAUTION- Using an incorrect battery may cause the remote transmitter to malfunction. Make sure that only the specified battery is installed.
- To prevent damage to the remote transmitter, do not drop it and do not expose it to moisture, heat or strong sunlight.
