Inspection

[Fuel Sender]

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. Remove the fuel pump assembly.

  3. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the sender connector (A) at each float level.

    Pin No. Description
    1 Fuel sensor ground (-)
    2 Fuel sensor signal (+)
3 Fuel Pump Motor Ground (-)
    4 Fuel Pump Motor (W)
    5 Fuel Pump Motor (V)
    6 Fuel Pump Motor (U)

  4. Also check that the resistance changes smoothly as the float moves from "E" to "F".

    Position Resistance (Ω) Capacity (L)
    E 296 - 304 4,5
    1/2 154,5 - 160,5 37,3
    F 13 - 17 58,5

Removal

  1. Release the residual pressure in the fuel line.

(See Fuel System - "Relieve Fuel Line Residual Pressure")

  2. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  3. Remove the rear seat cushion.

(See Body - "Rear Seat Assembly")

  4. Remove the fuel pump service cover (A) after loosening the mounting screws.

  5. Disconnect the quick-connector (A) of the fuel feed line.

  6. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor (FPS) connector (B).

  7. Disconnect the fuel pump connector (C).

  8. Remove the snap ring (A) using the special service tool (B) [No.: 09310-B8100].

  9. Remove the fuel pump (A).

Installation

  1. Install in the reverse order of removal.
