Description and Operation

Description

Vehicles have many control units that consume large amounts of electrical power. These control units perform their functions based on data from various sensors. A stable power supply is extremely important for the sensors to record this data. The battery sensor (A) is installed on the negative (-) battery terminal cable assembly. It sends battery voltage, current, and temperature data to the ECM, which uses these signals to control the charging duty cycle.

repair procedures

expansion

  1. Turn the ignition off.

  2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal (A).

Battery negative (-) terminal clamp nut:

    4,0~6 N·m

  3. Disconnect the battery sensor connector (A).

  4. Remove the battery sensor by loosening the mounting screws (B).

Battery sensor cable mounting screw (body ground):

    10,8~13.7 N·m

Installation

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Battery Sensor Recalibration

After reconnecting the negative battery cable, the AMS function will operate again only after the system has stabilized (approximately 4 hours). If the negative battery terminal (-) was disconnected during repair work on a vehicle equipped with ISG, the battery sensor must be recalibrated after the repair work is completed.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON and OFF.

  2. Leave the vehicle for approximately 4 hours with the hood and all doors closed.
