Description and Operation
Description
MF (maintenance-free) battery, as the name implies, requires no maintenance at all. The battery has no removable cell caps.
An MF battery does not need to be topped up with water during service.
Maintenance-free batteries are fully sealed, except for small ventilation holes in the cover.

[AGM Battery for ISG System]
Depending on the equipment and requirements, an AGM battery is used in vehicles with a high electrical system load. AGM stands for "Absorbent Glass Material", which is an absorbent glass fiber mat. AGM batteries are used in models with high electrical loads or consumers with a high power demand.
The constantly growing energy demand of modern vehicle systems requires even more powerful battery solutions.
Energy consumption is significant even when the vehicle is parked.
A slightly higher price compared to a battery of the same size is offset by the following advantages:
Significantly longer service life
Higher reliability at low temperatures
100% maintenance-free
Low risk in the event of an accident (reduced environmental risk)

AGM Battery Charging
The battery can be charged with chargers at a constant charging voltage of up to 14.8 V.
If possible, keep the battery temperature between 20 and 30 °C during charging.
Only chargers with voltage limitation (IU or WU characteristic) or chargers with IUoU characteristics that have continuous charge control may be used.
IU or WU charging technology
Optimized charging voltage for IU or WU: 14.7 V (at 20 °C - 30 °C) approx. 24 hours
Minimum charging voltage at 20 °C: 14.4 V
Maximum charging voltage at 20 °C: 14.8 V
A charging current of 10% of capacity is recommended (for example, 60 A·h : 10 = 6.0 A charging current).

INSPECTION
Battery charging
As a rule, the vehicle charging system can charge the battery in three ways, depending on the load.
Constant current charging: battery voltage gradually increases during constant current charging. If the charging current and time are not properly controlled, the battery may be overcharged. Therefore, once full charge is confirmed, the charging process must be stopped.
Normal charging: long-duration charging of the battery with low current
Quick charging: short-duration charging of the battery with high current
Constant voltage charging: battery voltage gradually increases during constant voltage charging.
TEST
Battery voltage and state of charge
Check the battery voltage and condition using a battery tester.
battery clamp
Shake the battery posts (A) to check whether they are loose or corroded. Clean any corroded terminals.

If the battery positive terminal is loose, first disconnect the battery ground cable (GND) before removing or tightening the positive terminal to avoid injury or electric shock.
If the battery clamp does not fit tightly on the battery positive (+) post:
Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
Tighten the battery clamp (A) on the battery positive (+) post.
Battery positive (+) post: 7.8~9.8 N·m

If the battery clamp does not fit tightly on the battery negative (-) post:
Tighten the battery clamp (A) on the battery negative (-) post.
Battery negative (-) post: 4.0~6 N·m

battery condition
Inspect the battery for damage or deformation. If the battery is severely damaged, deformed, or leaking, replace the battery.
Parasitic current draw inspection
[Using an ammeter]
Turn off all electrical loads, then turn the ignition off.
Close all doors except the hood, then lock all doors.
Disconnect the hood switch connector.
Close the liftgate.
Close the doors or remove the door switches.
Wait several minutes for the vehicle electrical systems to enter sleep mode.
Connect the ammeter in series between the battery negative (-) terminal and the ground cable. Then carefully disconnect the clamp from the battery negative (-) post.

Read the ammeter current value.
When the parasitic current exceeds the limit, check the circuit for interference. To do this, remove one fuse at a time and check the parasitic current at the same time.
Reconnect only the fuse of the circuit in which the parasitic current is suspected. Then disconnect one component at a time from the connected circuit until the parasitic current drops below the limit.
Limit (after 10–20 min.): Below 50 mA

MICRO 570 TESTERS
The Micro 570 analyzer is used to test the following systems and components: charging system, starting system, starter, battery and alternator.

FUNCTION KEYS
The Micro 570 tester has the following function keys:

BATTERY TEST
Connect the tester to the battery.
Connect the red test clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal.
Connect the black test clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal.

The tester will ask whether the battery is "IN VEHICLE" or "OUT OF VEHICLE". Select using the arrow keys, then press ENTER.

Select CCA and press ENTER.

Compare the CCA value shown on the display with the value on the battery label. Adjust the displayed CCA value using the UP and DOWN keys, then press ENTER.

The tester will perform the battery test.

The tester displays the battery test result, including the battery voltage and the battery rating on the display.
Refer to the table below for the recommended actions the MICRO 570 tester will give.

BATTERY TEST RESULTS
PRINTER TEST RESULTS Measurement BATTERY GOOD No action required. CHARGE COMPLETE The battery is in good condition.
Charge the battery before use. When charging and retesting the battery, follow the instructions, otherwise the test result may be inaccurate. (Refer to "Charging and Retesting After Charging" below.)
Charge and retest The battery is severely discharged. Charge the battery and run the test again.
When charging and retesting the battery, follow the instructions, otherwise the test result may be inaccurate. (Refer to "Charging and Retesting After Charging" below.)
Replace battery Replace the battery and recheck the charging system. An incorrect connection between the battery and the vehicle wiring causes the message "REPLACE BATTERY" to appear. Disconnect the cable and connect the tester directly to the battery terminal before replacing the battery, then repeat the test.
Cell is faulty, replace Charge the battery and run the test again. If "REPLACE BATTERY" appears on the Micro 570 analyzer, the battery needs to be replaced and the charging system must be checked again.
[Refer to Charging and Retesting After Charging]
Battery charging
Set the charger to automatic mode. (The charging current decreases as the battery charges.) Charge the battery until the charging current approaches zero or the charger signals that charging is complete.
(Recommended minimum charging time: more than 3 hours in automatic mode, as described above)
If the battery is not fully charged, the battery voltage is high while the battery current (CCA) is low. If the battery is tested in this state, the tester may give a false result indicating sulfation, because the battery current is too low compared with the battery voltage.
* Surface charge: when the battery is charged, the electrolyte temperature rises and the chemical reaction causes a strong increase in battery voltage.
Normally, it takes about 24 hours for the surface charge to fully dissipate.
Battery Test After Charging
Do not test the battery immediately after charging. Allow the battery voltage to settle after charging and before starting the test.
When the battery charging process is complete, the battery can be installed in the vehicle.
