Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) (if equipped)
In this manual: Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) (if equipped)
~1min read
The Hill-start Assist Control is a very useful function.
Its main purpose is to prevent the vehicle from rolling backward on an incline. The HAC system holds the brake pressure built up by the driver during the stopping procedure for 2 seconds after the brake pedal is released.
While the pressure is being held, the driver has enough time to press the accelerator pedal and drive away.
Brake pressure decreases as soon as the system detects the driver's intention to drive away.
CAUTION The HAC system is normally activated for only 2 seconds. The driver must be careful that the vehicle does not roll backward and cause an accident with objects or persons behind it when they sense the vehicle beginning to roll backward while driving uphill due to insufficient brake pressure built up during the stopping procedure.NOTICE
- The HAC system does not operate when the shift lever is in P (Park) or N (Neutral).
- The HAC system operates even when ESC is turned off, but not when ESC is malfunctioning.
