For maximum battery performance

- Keep the battery securely fastened.
- Keep the top of the battery clean and dry.
- Keep the connections and terminals clean, tight, and covered with a thin layer of petroleum jelly or terminal grease.
- Immediately remove any electrolyte spilled from the battery using a solution of water and baking soda.
- If the vehicle will be unused for a long period, disconnect the battery terminals.
NOTE The battery fitted as standard is maintenance-free. If your vehicle has a battery marked LOWER and UPPER on the side, you can check the electrolyte level. The electrolyte level should be between LOWER and UPPER. If the electrolyte level is low, add distilled (demineralized) water only (never add acid or any other electrolyte). When topping up, take care not to wet the battery and adjacent components. Do not overfill the battery cells, as this may damage other parts. Then make sure the cell caps are securely tightened. It is recommended that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
CAUTION - Battery hazards
Always read the following instructions carefully when handling a battery.
Keep cigarettes, sparks and other open flames away from the battery.
Hydrogen, a highly flammable gas, is always present in the battery cells and can explode if ignited.
Keep batteries out of the reach of children, as they contain highly corrosive SULFURIC ACID. Avoid contact of battery acid with skin, eyes, clothing or painted surfaces.
If electrolyte gets into your eyes, flush them with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes and then seek medical attention immediately.
If electrolyte contacts your skin, wash the affected area thoroughly. If you feel pain or burning, see a doctor immediately.
Wear protective eyewear when charging the battery or working near it.
Always provide adequate ventilation when working in enclosed spaces.
Dispose of the battery in accordance with the law. Improper disposal may cause damage to the environment and to people's health.
(if fitted)
The battery contains lead.
Do not dispose of it after use.
Return the battery to an authorized Kia dealer for recycling.
- When lifting a battery with a plastic case, excessive pressure can cause acid leakage, resulting in burns. Lift the battery using a carrier or by grasping it at the opposite corners.
- Never attempt to charge the battery while it is connected to the vehicle's electrical system.
- The ignition electrical system operates at high voltage. Never touch these components with the engine running or the ignition switch in the ON position.
WARNING
- When the vehicle will not be used for a long period and is parked in low temperatures, remove the battery and store it indoors.
- Always fully charge the battery to prevent the battery case from being damaged at low temperatures.
- Using unauthorized electrical devices may discharge the battery. Never use unauthorized devices.
