Replacing a fuse in the interior fuse box

   Turn the ignition switch and all other switches to the OFF position.

   Open the fuse box cover.

   Pull out the suspect fuse straight out. Use the fuse puller installed under the fuse box cover.

   Inspect the removed fuse, and if it is blown, replace it with a new one.

   Install a new fuse with the same rated current and make sure it is properly seated in the terminals.

If it does not fit the terminals or is too loose, consult an authorized Kia dealer.

If a suitable replacement fuse is not available, you may use a fuse with the same rated current from another circuit that is not in use at the time, for example the cigarette lighter fuse.

If the headlights or other electrical equipment do not work and the fuses are good, check the fuse box located in the engine compartment. If a blown fuse is found, replace it.

Memory fuse

The vehicle is equipped with a memory fuse, which prevents the battery from discharging if the vehicle is parked and not used for a long period. Before parking the vehicle for an extended period, perform the following steps:

   Switch off the engine.

   Turn off the headlights and taillights.

   Open the cover of the side fuse box on the driver's side and remove the memory fuse.

NOTE

• When the memory fuse is removed from the fuse box, the warning chime, audio system, clock, interior lights, etc. stop working. Some features must be reset after the fuse is reinstalled (restored to their initial settings). See the "Battery" section in this chapter.
• Even with the memory fuse removed, the battery may still discharge if the headlights or other electrical devices are left on.
