This gauge indicates the engine coolant temperature. The engine coolant temperature is within the normal range when the gauge needle is in the indicated zone 1 .

The engine coolant temperature depends on the outside temperature and driving conditions.

WARNING

If the engine coolant temperature gauge needle approaches the hot zone (H) at the end of the normal range, reduce speed to allow the coolant to cool. If the gauge needle goes beyond the normal range, stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so. If you continue to drive while the engine is overheating, you may severely damage the engine. For more information on immediate actions to take, refer to the "If the engine overheats" section in the "In an emergency" chapter of this manual.
