REMOVAL
IMPORTANTBefore removing any component of the safety system, lock the airbag control unit using the diagnostic tool. When this function is active, all firing circuits are inhibited and the airbag warning light on the instrument panel comes on steady (ignition on).

- Remove the plastic cover (see bodywork repair manual).

- Remove:
- the pretensioner connector,
- the pretensioner mounting bolt (1),
- the pretensioner assembly.
For disposal of an undeployed pretensioner, (see Airbags and Pretensioners chapter, Airbag and Pretensioner Control Unit, page 88C-39).
INSTALLATION
- Refit in the reverse order of removal.
After a pretensioner has deployed, certain parts must be replaced without fail (see Airbags and Pretensioners chapter, Airbag and Pretensioner Control Unit, page 88C-39).
- Observe the routing and mounting points of the wiring under the seat.

- Tighten the pretensioner mounting bolt to torque (2.1 daN.m) (1).
Check the airbag ECU using the diagnostic tool.
- If everything is correct, unlock the airbag control unit; otherwise, refer to the diagnostic manual.
