IMPORTANT

To avoid any risk of accident, pyrotechnic gas generators must be deployed before the vehicle or the part alone is scrapped.

WARNING

The disposal procedure does not apply if local regulations require a specific procedure validated and issued by the Methods, Diagnosis and Repair department.

Procédure de destruction

Be sure to use the tool (Ele. 1287) and the adapter leads (Ele. 1287-1) and (Ele. 1287-02).

IMPORTANT

Do not reuse pyrotechnic components. Pretensioners or airbags from a vehicle destined for scrapping must be destroyed.

WARNING
  • Each part is dedicated to one vehicle type and must in no case be fitted to another. Parts are not interchangeable.
  • Do not deploy pretensioners that must be returned under warranty for a problem with the pedicle. This makes it impossible for the supplier to analyse the part. Return the faulty part in the packaging of the new part to the Techline.

I - PYROTECHNIC PRETENSIONERS AND RETRACTORS

1 - Destroying the part fitted to the vehicle:

Move the vehicle outside the workshop.

Connect the destruction tool (Ele. 1287) to the pretensioner after removing the seat rail cover.

Unroll the entire tool harness so you stand well away from the vehicle (approximately ten metres) during deployment.

Connect the two power supply wires of the tool to a battery.

After checking that no one is nearby, destroy the pretensioner by pressing both push buttons of the tool at the same time.

2 - Destroying the part removed from the vehicle:

Proceed in the same way as for the front airbag, in a stack of old tyres.

II - AIRBAGS

These parts can only be destroyed when removed, outside the workshop.

Connect the corresponding harness.

Place the airbag on two wooden blocks.

Destruction is carried out in a stack of old tyres.

Make sure the deployment of the airbag cushion is not obstructed.

Unroll the entire tool harness so you stand well away from the assembly (approximately ten metres) during deployment, and connect it to the airbag.

Connect the two power supply wires of the destruction tool (Ele. 1287) to a battery.

Make sure no one is nearby, then destroy the airbag by pressing both push buttons of the tool at the same time.

Note: If deployment is impossible (faulty igniter), return the part to the Techline.
