REMOVAL
IMPORTANTBefore removing any component of the safety system, lock the airbag control unit using the diagnostic tool. When this function is active, all firing circuits are inhibited and the airbag warning light on the dashboard comes on (ignition on).

- Unclip the seat belt by pressing the latch (1).

- Remove the plastic cover.

- Remove:
- the pretensioner mounting bolt (2),
- the pretensioner connector,
- the pretensioner assembly.
For disposal of an undeployed pretensioner, (see Airbags and Pretensioners chapter, Airbag and Pretensioner Control Unit, page 88C-39).
INSTALLATION
- Refit in the reverse order of removal.
After an airbag has deployed, certain parts must be replaced without fail (see "Repair precautions").
- Observe the routing and mounting points of the wiring under the seat.
- Tighten the pretensioner mounting bolt to torque (2.1 daN.m).
- Replace any defective parts.
- Reconnect the connector.
Check the airbag ECU using the diagnostic tool.
- If everything is correct, unlock the airbag control unit; otherwise, see the diagnostic manual.
