Lower belt pretensioner and anti-submarining airbag

Two pretensioning devices are fitted to the front seats of the vehicle.

The first pretensioning acts on the lap belt webbing and the second on the lower (abdominal) webbing. Restraint is optimal with limited submarining.

The access arrangement to the rear seats of the three-door saloon requires the seat belt to be anchored to the body.

As a result, a lower belt pretensioner cannot be fitted, and a new airbag, called the anti-submarining airbag, is introduced.

This airbag (7), located under the seat cushion, prevents the risk of submarining.
