PROCEDURE

Check the cold start valve with the engine cold and coolant temperature below 30 °C in the following sequence: PROCEDURE 1. Disconnect the center high-tension lead from the ignition distributor. 2. Disconnect connector 15 (see figure Air Cleaner and Intake Manifold with Fuel Injection System) from valve 16. 3. Connect a voltmeter to the terminals of connector 15, start the engine and let it run at idle. The voltmeter must show a voltage of at least 11.6 V. A test lamp may be used instead of the voltmeter. 4. Pinch off the air hose to valve 16. Engine speed must drop. 5. With the engine warm, connect connector 15 to valve 16. Pinch off the air hose to the valve. Engine speed must not change.

Replace the faulty valve.
