Hood Release Cable Replacement

To replace the hood release cable, loosen the Phillips-head screws (2). The cable (3) is only available together with the handle (1).

The cable ends just above the right headlight and is secured there by a threaded nipple (2). It runs through guide elements (1). Hood height is adjusted using the rubber bumper (4) after loosening the lock nut (3).

Remove the plastic guide sleeve.
On models with a 5-cylinder engine, remove the radiator grille. On models with a 6-cylinder engine, remove the battery cover.
Remove the cable from the plastic clip on the side wall of the engine compartment.
Remove the lower left panel under the instrument panel (see Interior section).
Unscrew the release handle located in the driver's footwell.
Pull the hood release handle into the passenger compartment. Caution: the spring-loaded cable can injure your eyes!
Push the new cable from the inside through the guide tube and secure the handle.
