Front End

The bumper trim panels are secured by retaining clips (arrow) in the bumper. To remove them, pry each one out individually with a flat plastic trim tool. Before removing the side trim panels, remove the center section with the license plate bracket.

Bracket (2) is often damaged in collisions. For this reason, it is designed so that it can be easily replaced after removing the two hex bolts (arrows). The same applies to the crossmembers (1). The arrows indicate the mounting bolts.

Removing the crossmember. The illustration shows the crossmember for the model with the 5-cylinder engine. The arrows indicate the mounting bolts. Do not forget: the wiring harness must also be disconnected.
Removing the Engine Undercover
The engine undercover helps achieve a good aerodynamic coefficient for the Audi body and reduces noise. It must be removed to perform engine repairs.
PROCEDURE
Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it.
In both wheel housings, remove two plastic nuts, or one nut and one quarter-turn fastener, on each side.
At the rear edge of the undercover under the engine, turn three quarter-turn fasteners 90° counterclockwise (to the left) with a screwdriver.
Hang the undercover at the front on the bumper mount.
Lift the undercover on the right and left above the threaded stud in the wheel housings and remove it toward the rear.
When installing, carefully insert the undercover into the retainers at the bottom edge of the bumper. Then install the side panels onto the threaded studs.
This job is easier to perform with two people.
Removing the Radiator Grille
PROCEDURE
Open the hood.
Remove the three hex bolts at the bottom on the back of the radiator grille, leaving the mounting bracket installed.
Tilt the radiator grille forward and remove it.
Installation: hook the radiator grille into the retaining clips at the upper edge.
Guide the radiator grille into the locating hole and very carefully tighten the bolts at the lower edge (6 N·m).
Removing the Strip Under the Headlights
PROCEDURE
Open the hood.
Loosen the Phillips-head screw on the inner side of the strip.
Carefully slide the outer side of the strip out of the retainers – the strip is secured at this point by a pin.

The narrow strip under the headlights is secured by a pin at the outer edge. When removing, carefully and thoroughly pull this pin out of its hole.
