Camshaft Removal

Cylinder Head Bolt Loosening Sequence

Remove or disconnect:

PROCEDURE.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Ventilation hose and valve cover 7..

3. Front timing belt cover 73, belt, camshaft timing gear 63.

4. Rear 27, intermediate 29, front 32 camshaft bearing caps,

ignition distributor

5. Front camshaft seal 18, camshaft 19, tappets 20 with

hydraulic lash adjusters..

Warning.

Mark the camshafts and then install each one in its place during assembly.

camshaft in its place..

Check the numbers on the bearing caps for correct subsequent

installation..

Mark the tappets so that they are installed in their original places during assembly..

Inspection

PROCEDURE.

1. Presence of wear or other defects on camshaft journals..

2. Presence of wear or other defects on camshaft lobes..

Installation

PROCEDURE.

1. Tappets with hydraulic lash adjusters..

2. Camshaft 19 into cylinder head

Warning.

Before installation, lubricate camshaft journals and caps with engine oil.

bearings. Each camshaft must be installed in its place..

Warning.

Install the camshaft bearing caps in their places according to

markings..

4. Tighten the camshaft bearing cap mounting bolts in 2-3 passes,

gradually increasing torque.

5. Lubricate camshaft seal 18 with engine oil and install it in place using installation tool KM-

422..

6. Camshaft timing gear 63 with washer

64..

7. Tighten camshaft gear bolt to torque 60 N·m.

8. Timing belt and front belt cover 73..

Warning.

Check the correct angular position of the camshafts and

of the crankshaft..

9. Valve cover 7 with gasket

15..

10. Tighten valve cover bolts to torque 8 N·m..

11. Ventilation hose and negative battery cable.
