1. Timing belt front cover 73.

3. Two power steering mounting bolts..

4. Loosen, but do not fully remove, the 3 water pump mounting bolts 166, move pump 167 using tool KM-421A and remove the timing belt..

Warning.

Mark the direction of timing belt rotation..

Installation

PROCEDURE.

1. Before installing the timing belt, check the relative angular position of the camshafts and the engine crankshaft..

1a. Mark I on the sprocket A of the intake camshaft must be aligned.

with mark E on sprocket B of the exhaust camshaft (see illustration. Position of marks for correct installation of camshafts and crankshaft)..

1b. The mark on crankshaft sprocket 153 must be aligned with the

pointer on the cover.

1c. Install the timing belt, keeping the direction of rotation. 1d. Using tool KM-421A, move water pump 167 so that the tensioner is fully slackened, then install and lightly tighten the bolt.

Turn the crankshaft sprocket clockwise 2 turns and check that the marks align (see illustration. Position of marks for correct installation of camshafts and crankshaft).

1e. Turn water pump 167 counterclockwise so that marks A and B on the tensioner arm and bracket align. Tighten bolts 166 and check the alignment of marks A and B again. If the marks have moved, repeat the procedure..

2. Tighten the water pump mounting bolt to 8 N·m torque..

3. Install power steering pump 58 on rear timing belt cover 52 and install two bolts.

4. Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 20 N·m..

5. Install crankshaft pulley 157..

6. Install timing belt front cover 73..

7. Tighten the timing belt cover mounting bolts to 8 N·m torque..

8. Power steering pump pulley (see figure Power steering pump pulley removal

power steering pump pulley mounting bolts to torque 20 N·m..

9. Adjust the tension of the alternator and air conditioning compressor belts.
