Please read the information in this section. It tells you how to use your restraint system correctly so that you and your passengers are as safe as possible.

Here are some simple steps you can take to minimize the risk of injury from airbag deployment:

  1. Children up to 12 years old should always ride properly secured in the rear seat of the vehicle.
  2. A child who is not large enough to properly use the vehicle's seat belt must be secured in an appropriate child restraint or booster seat in the rear seat.
  3. If a child between 2 and 12 years old (not in a rear-facing child restraint) must ride in the front passenger seat, move the seat as far back as possible and use an appropriate child restraint.
  4. Never allow children to place the shoulder belt behind them or under their arm.
  5. Read the instructions supplied with your child restraint to make sure you use it correctly.
  6. All passengers should always wear both the lap and shoulder belts correctly.
  7. The driver and front passenger seats should be moved as far back as possible to allow the front airbags to deploy properly.
  8. Do not lean against the door or window. If your vehicle has side airbags and they deploy, they inflate with force into the space between the occupant and the door, and occupants may be injured.
  9. If the airbag system in this vehicle must be modified for a disabled person, consult your authorized dealer.
